Obverse legend : LÉGENDE IBÉRIQUE EKEKE.
Obverse description : Tête masculine à droite, ornée d’une coiffure particulière ; légende ibérique devant le visage.
Reverse
Reverse legend : NERONKEN.
Reverse description : Animal hybride à droite, composé d'un protomé de cheval ailé et d'une queue de reptile (?) enroulée sur elle-même ; légende ibérique à l'exergue.
Commentary
La légende est difficilement lisible au droit, mais particulièrement complète au revers ! Au droit, la tête a une sorte de bonnet dont l'extrémité retombe sur le dessus de la tête.
Ce type de bronze est très rare ; L. Villaronga n’en avait étudié que 7 et le classait en R6.

Historical background
GALLIA - NEDENES (oppidum of Montlaures)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
This small people is neither cited by Ptolemy nor by Strabo any more than by Caesar. He must have belonged to the more general group of Longostaletes, in the region between Narbonne and Béziers. It is the recent excavations, carried out over the past thirty years, which have made it possible to restore to the oppida of Montlaurès and Ensérune the importance they had acquired between the creation of the province of Narbonnaise, in 118 BC. C., and the end of the Gallic Wars.
