Obverse description : Profil à gauche, chevelure élaborée, la couronne de laurier suggérée par une large bande courbe à décor aux chevrons.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval à gauche, sexué par trois petits globules, à la crinière perlée, et aux jointures de jambe bouletées. Au dessus, oiseau (rapace?) à gauche au bec crochu. Dessous, croix bouletée.

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC).
