Bel exemplaire, sur un flan un peu court et épais, avec des types assez bien centrés des deux côtés. Frappe un peu molle par endroits. Patine gris sombre, de collection ancienne

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête humaine à droite, les cheveux en grosses mèches ; un sanglier enseigne et un cordon perlé dans la chevelure.
Reverse
Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval androcéphale galopant à droite ; un sanglier à droite, entre les jambes du cheval ; restes de l'aurige au-dessus du dos ; vexillum devant la tête.
Commentary
Cet exemplaire est très proche du n° 1167 de MONNAIES 43. Le traitement de la tête et le revers correspondent en tous points au DT. 2264 “au profil géométrique”.

GALLIA - BAÏOCASSES (Area of Bayeux)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Baïocasses or Bodiocasses are not mentioned in Caesar's Gallic Wars. It is Pliny the Elder who speaks of it first. The Baiocasses occupied part of present-day Normandy, the Bessin. Their neighbors were the Unelles, the Viducasses and the Véliocasses. Their main oppidum was Augustodurum (Bayeux). Pliny (HN. IV, 107). Ptolemy (G. II, 8).
