Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait avec une chevelure ornementée. Frappe molle au revers. Jolie patine de collection ancienne avec deux infimes petites oxydations cuivreuses au revers

Obverse description : Buste drapé de Faustine jeune à droite avec un petit chignon ramené derrière la tête, vu de trois quarts en avant (L).
Obverse translation : “Faustina Augusta”, (Faustine augusta).

Reverse legend : C-E-RES.
Reverse description : Cérès voilée et drapée assise à gauche sur une corbeille, tenant deux épis de la main droite et tenant une torche de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Ceres”, (Cérès).
Commentary
D’après le classement de W. Szaivert, ce denier de Faustine II est frappé au début du règne personnel de Marc Aurèle.

Augusta
Young Faustina, the daughter of Antoninus and Faustina Mother, was born between 128 and 132. She married Marc Aurèle in 145 and received the title of augusta in 146. She had thirteen children, seven of whom survived childhood. A very important coinage is struck until his death in 175 in Halala at the foot of Mount Taurus in Cappadocia.
