Exemplaire sur flan bien centré. Belle tête de Domitien. Joli revers bien venu à la frappe servi par une magnifique patine de médaillier avec reflets mordorés et bleutés irisés

Rubans de type 2. M. Prieur fait remarquer qu’un tissu est posé sur le trône. Il pourrait s’agir du paludamentum (manteau de pourpre rouge du général victorieux, puis de l’empereur). Un exemplaire similaire s’est vendu 300€ sur une offre maximum à 600€ dans MONNAIES XXI, n° 2426.

Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
