Commentary


Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. ptéryges fines sous le buste. Douze rangs de pierres verticaux, les deux portes formées de deux, puis cinq, enfin deux globules sur chaque linteaux. Les cinq globules sont posées en carré centré. Les lettres S et F pourraient se traduire par Sæculi Felicitas ou le siècle de la Félicité.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
