Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bien centré avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait de Constantin II César. Joli revers finement détaillé. Patine marron, légèrement nettoyée

Commentary
Très beau portrait. Rubans de type 1 aux extrémités bouletées. C’est l’avant dernière émission frappée à Londres avant la fermeture. Ce type semble en fait plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
