Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine marron glacé avec des reflets métalliques

Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*).
Obverse translation : “Constantinus Pius Augustus”, (Constantin pieux auguste).

Reverse description : Constantin lauré, vêtu militairement debout à gauche, tenant un globe de la main droite et une haste renversée de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Principi Iuventutis”, (Au prince de la jeunesse).
Commentary
Poids léger. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3. Cuirasse lisse ornée de globules (7 dont six posés trois par trois en triangle). Épaulière cloutée. Ptéryges fines.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
