Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et épais, bien centré au revers avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait de Constantin Ier et magnifique revers. Patine marron aux reflets métalliques

Reverse description : Sol nu et radié debout à gauche, le manteau sur l'épaule, levant la main droite et tenant un globe de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Soli Invicto Comiti”, (À notre compagnon Sol invaincu).

Commentary


Poids très lourd. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges invisibles sous le paludamentum. Au revers, la signification des lettres F|T n’est pas assurée, mais peut se traduire par “Temporum Felicitas” ou les temps heureux.
Very heavy weight. Type 3 ribbons with rounded ends. Pteryges invisible under the paludamentum. On the reverse, the meaning of the letters F|T is not certain, but could be translated as “Temporum Felicitas” or happy times

Augustus

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
