Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan large, ovale, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets, légèrement écrasés. Portrait magnifique. Revers de toute beauté. Très belle patine gris métallique avec des reflets mordorés. Conserve une partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Commentary


Rubans de type 1 aux extrémités bouletées. Au revers la lettre dans le champ C|- pourrait être l’initiale de “Concordia” pour la Concorde. L’exemplaire de la collection Daniel Compas, MONNAIES XXVII, n° 432 s’est vendu 291€ avec six offres sur un maximum à 305€.

Augustus

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
