Exemplaire sur un petit flan, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets mais un plat de frappe sur le listel. Très beau portrait. Revers de style fin. Jolie patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Buste lauré, casqué et cuirassé de Constantin Ier à droite avec pan de paludamentum sur l’épaule, vu de trois quarts en avant (C*01).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Constantinus Maximus Augustus”, (L’empereur Constantin le grand auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP/ VOT/PR/ *// STR.
Reverse description : Deux Victoires debout, face à face, posant un bouclier sur un cippe ornementé d’une croix.
Reverse translation : “Victoriæ Lætæ Principium Perpetuæ/ Vota Populi Romani”, (À la victoire heureuse et durable du prince/ Vœux du peuple romain).
Commentary
Poids très léger. Casque lisse. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges larges.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
