Exemplaire sur un flan large parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait juvénile de Commode. Revers inhabituel. Patine gris métallique avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Commode imberbe à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (B*4).

Commentary

Rubans de type 3. Buste partriculier avec la cuirasse (lorica) formée d’écailles, vu de trois quarte en arrière (B*4). Commode est imberbe alors que normalement, nous commençons à voir des bustes barbus. Ce type particulier est frappé en l’an 21, puis en l’an 24 et 25. Au revers les années régnales sont comptabilisées à partir de son père Marc Aurèle (an 1 = 161).
Type 3 ribbons. A distinctive bust with a scale-like breastplate (lorica), seen from three-quarters behind (B*4). Commodus is beardless, whereas we normally start to see bearded busts. This particular type was struck in the year 21, then in the years 24 and 25. On the reverse, the regnal years are counted from his father Marcus Aurelius (year 1 = 161).
