Commentary
Cette médaille a été décernée au sénateur Georges Repiquet (1912-1988). Ingénieur agronome et fils de Jules Vincent Repiquet, qui est Gouverneur de La Réunion entre 1925 et 1932, il sera maire de Sainte-Suzanne (1945-1965), élu au Sénat à partir de 1955 pour être réélu en 1959 au cours de laquelle il recevra cette médaille, puis 1965 et 1974.

The constitution was amended on January 28, 1958. October 1962 by referendum where a majority of 62% of votes approves the election of the President of the Republic by direct universal suffrage.
