Obverse description : Robert à cheval, galopant à gauche, l'épée haute, coiffé d'un heaume couronné sommé d'un lis, portant par-dessus sa cotte de mailles une cotte d'armes fleurdelisée ; le caparaçon du cheval est fleurdelisé.

Robert is the son of the Count of Geneva, Amédée. Before being appointed by Pope Gregory XI to hold the see of Cambrai, he was a canon in Paris and bishop of Thérouanne. He took possession of the bishopric by prosecutor on November 21, 1368. In 1372, he resigned his bishopric once invested with the functions of legate. After the death of Gregory XI, the conclave, meeting in Rome, gave him Urban VI as his successor. All of the cardinals, except one, retired to Fundi and elected Robert of Geneva who resided in Avignon. He was the first of the antipopes.
