Statère sur un flan un peu court, avec des types assez bien centré. Faiblesse de frappe sur la gauche de l’avers et un défaut de métal sous le cheval au revers

Reverse description : Cheval bondissant à droite ; un épi de la croupe.
Commentary
Ce statère est intéressant avec la ligne qui rejoint l’épi au droit ; le seul exemplaire avec cette particularité semble être le n° 1828 du BIAC et le 2795 de l’ABC.

Cunobeline, king
Cunobeline, who seems to be the son of Tasciovanus and the brother of Epaticcus, is said to have united the two tribes of the Catuvellauni and the Trinovantes. He was a very powerful king and died at the latest in 43, just before the invasion of Brittany by Claudius I (41-54). He had had three sons including Adminius whom he banished around 40 AD. This son appealed to the judgment of Emperor Caligula. His two other sons Caratacus and Togodumnus shared his possessions on his death.
