Monnaie de grande qualité, avec une frappe centrée et vigoureuse, mais avec un flan cassé. Sinon, bon or et agréable patine

Commentary
Ce très rare triens correspond à la monnaie 1013 du Belfort, avec FAVS (les lettres A et V ligaturées) et la légende X SCI IVXLIANI au revers. La légende du revers semble variée quelque peu sur notre exemplaire, dans le X et avec les lettre ANI de la fin hors flan.
Selon le Belfort, le style de ce triens est absolument contemporain de Sigebert (535-575), du Gévaudan.

All that we know of Brioude for the high times is to be related to the appearance of the cult of Saint Julien. From the 4th century, the martyrdom of Saint Julien, protector of Auvergne, and the pilgrimage to his tomb that followed, gave the town the dimension of a regional religious and political capital. The surprising importance of the Merovingian levels brought to light during the recent planned excavations carried out around the basilica attests to an incessant activity at these times in these places.
