BITHYNIA - KIOS

(4th century BC)

Kios was a rich commercial city at the entrance to the Propontis, founded according to legend by the Argonauts. Coinage would not begin before the second half of the 4th century BC. It was part of the Kingdom of Thrace under Lysimachus. The city was destroyed by Philip V of Macedon in 202 BC..
