Commentary

Of Austrian origin, this two euro coin is still awaiting minting. However, it has a well-starred edge that clearly indicates its nationality and proves, if proof were needed, that the edges are incised before minting. We note, however, that the edge is not striated and we only see the 2 EURO ***

Historical background

EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK

The ECB's function is to manage the single European coin, the Euro. Its action is not only physical - choice of types and manufacture of banknotes - but above all economic with the control of the coin supply and the choice of interest rates. Decisions are taken by a Council bringing together ECB officials and representatives of Central Banks of European countries participating in the euro zone..
