Commentary


Seule la lettre d'atelier placée à la pointe de l'écu permet de distinguer ce souverain australien d'un souverain normal, fabriqué en Angleterre. Ce type fut frappé à Melbourne entre 1873 et 1887 ainsi qu’à Sydney entre 1871 et 1887.
Only the mint letter placed at the tip of the shield distinguishes this Australian sovereign from a normal sovereign, made in England. This type was struck in Melbourne between 1873 and 1887 and in Sydney between 1871 and 1887

AUSTRALIA - VICTORIA

(20/06/1837-22/01/1901)

Victoria I (1819-1901) was the daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent, and Victoria of Saxe Coburg. She succeeded her uncle William IV in 1837 and married Albert, Prince of Saxe Coburg Gotha (1819-1861), in 1840. She was the grandmother of noble Europe.
