Exemplaire absolument fabuleux, sans aucun défaut ni usure. Revers de toute beauté, parfaitement centré et complet. Monnaie incroyable !

Reverse description : Cheval stylisé galopant à droite ; au-dessus du cheval, un personnage nu, tenant un fouet d’une main et de l’autre les rênes qui passent devant la tête du cheval ; sous le cheval, un loup ; les restes d'un vexillum devant le poitrail ; entre le poitrail du cheval et le loup, un motif en forme de foudre.

Commentary

D’une qualité droit /revers extraordinaire, cet hémistatère est un peu léger en comparaison des exemplaires du Cabinet des médailles (BN 7170, 3,82 g et BN 7171, 3,85g). Un poids comparable se retrouve pour l’hémistatère de la collection Voltz, Auctiones 25, 19-21 juin 1995, n° 1212. L’exemplaire trouvé au Vieil-Évreux au XIXe siècle et aujourd’hui perdu aurait pesé 4,54 g (Sch/E. 168). Sur les deux exemplaires du Nouvel Atlas, le premier provient de la BN (n° 7170) alors que le second provient d’une collection privée.
Of extraordinary obverse/obverse quality, this hemistatery is a little light compared to the examples in the Cabinet des médailles (BN 7170, 3.82 g and BN 7171, 3.85 g). A comparable weight is found for the hemistatery in the Voltz collection, Auctiones 25, June 19-21, 1995, no. 1212. The copy found at Vieil-Évreux in the 19th century and now lost would have weighed 4.54 g (Sch/E. 168). Of the two examples in the New Atlas, the first comes from the BN (no. 7170) while the second comes from a private collection
