Reverse description : Croix grecque cantonnée des lettres LEMO (en 2e, 1er, 4e et 3e cantons) ; grènetis intérieur et légende autour.

Commentary

Cette légende de droit BILIVACO ne semble correspondre à aucune des monnaies publiées. Il est cependant possible de proposer un rapprochement de ce triens avec la Civitas Lémovicas, à partir du monogramme cruciforme et les lettres LEMO et le nom du monétaire qui s’inspire du B. 2139. La légende rétrograde semble permettre de penser à une copie malhabile. Le droit est pourtant d’un très bon style et le métal semble lui aussi de bon aloi. Il est probable que ce triens ait été frappé dans le Limousin, ou ailleurs, en s’inspirant d’un triens au nom de Domvlfvs, frappé à Limoges.
This obverse legend BILIVACO does not seem to correspond to any of the published coins. However, it is possible to suggest a connection between this triens and the Civitas Lémovicas, based on the cruciform monogram and the letters LEMO and the mint's name, which is inspired by B. 2139. The retrograde legend seems to suggest a clumsy copy. The obverse is, however, in very good style and the metal also seems to be of good quality. It is likely that this triens was struck in the Limousin region, or elsewhere, inspired by a triens in the name of Domvlfvs, struck in Limoges
