Commentary


Honoré Daumier (1808-1879) est un graveur, caricaturiste, peintre et sculpteur français originaire de Marseille. Après des études à l’Académie Suisse, il devient lithographe chez l’éditeur Belliard puis illustrateur de publicités. Il produit par la suite de nombreuses caricatures politiques et sociales. (cf. Wikipédia).
Honoré Daumier (1808-1879) was a French engraver, caricaturist, painter, and sculptor from Marseille. After studying at the Académie Suisse, he became a lithographer for the publisher Belliard and then an advertising illustrator. He subsequently produced numerous political and social caricatures.
