Monnaie fourrée, sur un flan un peu court avec des types centrés mais de frappe un peu molle. Patine grise et poreuse, avec de petites taches localisées

L’association de ce droit et de ce revers semble manquer aux collections d’Oxford et à l’ouvrage de T. Abramson.
Le n° 226 d’Oxford présente cette même combinaison de revers mais associé à un avers avec une croisette à la place des petites traits parallèles. Cet exemplaire n’a pas de cordon perlé, mais l’avers est orné de quelques globules.

ENGLAND - ANGLO-SAXONS
(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
