Coments on the condition:

Très belle monnaie frappée sur un flan relativement large, mais très mince. Tête complète au droit, avec une frappe centrée des deux côtés. Flan cassé, avec un manque de métal (moins de 20% manquant), pesant initialement 0,4 gramme au maximum

Commentary

Bien que légèrement fragmentaire, avec un poids de 0,29 gramme il est impossible de qualifier cette monnaie de denier ! Il s’agit plus vraisemblablement d’une obole qui s’insère dans la seconde catégorie d’oboles “de petit module”.
Avec une si belle tête et un revers malheureusement incomplet, cette monnaie est une obole de choix pour cette série. Avec cette combinaison buste/croix, nous n’avons pas retrouvé de denier correspondant avec une épigraphie comparable. Le style pourrait rappeler certains denier de Paris et Poitiers...
Sous certains aspects, cet exemplaire est comparable aux monnaies légères découvertes sur le site de Dombourg (Pays-Bas).
Although slightly fragmentary, with a weight of 0.29 grams it is impossible to qualify this coin as a denarius! It is more likely an obol that fits into the second category of “small module” obols. With such a beautiful head and an unfortunately incomplete reverse, this coin is a choice obol for this series. With this bust/cross combination, we have not found a corresponding denarius with a comparable epigraphy. The style could recall certain denarius from Paris and Poitiers... In certain aspects, this example is comparable to the light coins discovered on the site of Domburg (Netherlands)
