Exemplaire sur un flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Belle tête au droit. Revers finement détaillé, bien venu à la frappe. Belle patine de médaillier

Obverse description : Tête casquée stylisée à droite, une mèche de cheveux dépassant du casque revient enroulée sur le cou.

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à droite, la tête formée par un petit triangle ouvert à l'extrémité globulée ; au-dessus, une S inversée et pointée et un animal allongé à tête triangulaire ; au dessous, hippocampe à gauche ; devant le cou du cheval, trois globules posés en triangle.
Commentary
Poids léger. Ce denier appartient à la classe E de la typologie d'Allen qu'il appelle "type au serpent" ou à la classe 1b de S. Scheers, variété stylisée du type à l'hippocampe. Dans le Nouvel Atlas ce type se retrouve dans la série 31 A, type lamellaire " à la tête de Pallas" et appartient à la classe 1 à l'hippocampe.

AMBIANI (Area of Amiens)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
Their name, "those who are on both sides of the river", indicates that the Ambiens, people of Belgian Gaul, occupied both banks of the Somme (Samara). Their territory corresponds to the current department of the Somme. Their neighbors were the Calètes, the Morins, the Atrébates, the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Samarobriva (near Amiens). They participated in the coalition of the Belgian peoples in 57 BC and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. In 52 BC, it was a contingent of five thousand men that they gave for the relief army dedicated to clearing Alesia. Caesar (BG. II, 4, 15; VII, 75; VIII, 7). Strabo (G. IV, 5). Kruta: 68, 110, 366.
