Historical background

ZENO and LEO II CAESAR

(9/02-17/11/474)

Zeno married Ariadne, daughter of Leo I, around 466. Their son, Leo II, succeeded his grandfather in 474, but in fact it was Zeno who assumed power from February 9 as emperor, before that Leo II died on November 17, 474.
