YUGOSLAVIA - KINGDOM OF SERBS, CROATS AND SLOVENES - ALEXANDER I

(1921-1934)

Alexander I (16/12/1888 - 9/10/1934) is the second son of Peter I of Serbia (1903 - 1921) whom he succeeded in 1921. In 1922 he married Marie of Romania. King of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1921, Alexander I took the name of King of Yugoslavia in 1929. The king had to fight the Croatian separatist movement of the Ustashi. He was finally assassinated in Marseilles with Louis Barthou, on October 9, 1934. His son Pierre II succeeded him (1934-1945).
