Exemplaire sur un petit flan. Beau portrait. Revers tout à fait inhabituel de joli style. Belle patine vert foncé

Reverse legend : VIRTVS - EXERCITVM// TESB.
Reverse description : L'empereur debout à gauche, vêtu militairement, tenant le labarum chrismé de la main droite et appuyé sur un bouclier de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Virtus Exercitum”, (La Virilité de l'armée).

Commentary


Rubans de type 3. Les ptéryges sont à peine visibles sous le paludamentum. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rares que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
Type 3 ribbons. The pteryges are barely visible under the paludamentum. This type appears to be much rarer than general works suggest.

VETRANIO

Commander in Illyria, Vetranion, is immediately proclaimed after the death of Constans. Constantia, Constance's sister and Hanniballien's widow, convinces him to accept the purple. Magnentius tries to negotiate with Vétranion who finally rallies to Constantius II. He abdicated before the Emperor on December 25, 350 and retired to Prusa in Bithynia, where he died in 356.
