Monnaie sur un flan idéalement centré. Exemplaire monté anciennement. Beau portrait de Vespasien ainsi qu’un très joli revers, bien détaillé. Fine usure superficielle. Patine de collection

Obverse description : Tête laurée de Vespasien à droite (O*).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Vespasianus Augustus”, (l’empereur césar Vespasien auguste).


Reverse legend : FORTVNA - AVGVST.
Reverse description : Fortuna (la Fortune) drapée, debout à gauche sur un autel décoré, tenant un gouvernail de la main droite et une corne d’abondance de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Fortuna Augusti”, (La Fortune de l’auguste).


Rubans de type 3. Ce type avec la légende longue au droit et le nom de VESPASIANVS semble plus rare que le type avec seulement VESP. Néanmoins, cet aureus semble bien frappé en 74 comme son alter ego alors que précédemment était daté à partir de 75.

Vespasian was born Nov. 17 9 Flacrines near Reate (in Sabine country). It belongs to the Italian municipal bourgeoisie. Titus is attached directly to the government by his father at 71. His reign was devoted to the political and economic restoration of Rome. In 73, it is of censorship. He died in Reate 24 June 79.
