Commentary

Antoine est le fils de Charles, duc de Vendôme et de Françoise d’Alençon, né en 1518. Il devient duc de Vendôme en 1537 puis sera roi de Navarre en 1555. Il meurt en 1562. Ce jeton est fait par Claude Lemay, tailleur de la Monnaie de Paris en 1541 (Mazerolle, I, CLIV et 512, n° 539).
Antoine is the son of Charles, Duke of Vendôme and Françoise d'Alençon, born in 1518. He became Duke of Vendôme in 1537 and then King of Navarre in 1555. He died in 1562. This token was made by Claude Lemay, cutter of the Paris Mint in 1541 (Mazerolle, I, CLIV and 512, no. 539)
