Très bel exemplaire sur un flan relativement large permettant d’avoir des types complets. Patine sombre et brillante, un peu poreuse en bord de flan

Obverse description : Tête à droite, la chevelure en arrière avec une sorte de natte bordant le front ; légende devant le visage et grènetis.


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Sanglier à gauche ; un dauphin stylisé au-dessus et un annelet accompagné d’une esse entre les pattes ; une lettre A ou V sous la hure ; grènetis.


Cette rare série regroupe bien deux types différents de légende, avec les bronze STRATOS et les bronzes TARVSIS !
Cet exemplaire offre un superbe revers complet et un avers avec une très belle tête et une légende lisible en bord de flan.

Veliocasses (Norman Vexin Region)

(Second - first century BC)

The Veliocasses, people of Gaul Belgium, lived in the Norman Vexin on the current department of Seine-Maritime. They had for neighbors Lexovii and Aulerci Eburovices with the Seine border and across the Parisii, the Calètes and Bellovaci. They participated in the Belgian coalition of 57 BC, led by the Bellovaci and furnished a contingent of ten thousand men. But in 52 BC, for the army to rescue besieged in Alesia Vercingetorix release, they gave three thousand men. The following year, 51 BC they took part for the last time the coalition of the Belgians revolted under the leadership of Bellovaci. Their main oppidum was Rouen (Rotomagus). Caesar (Bg. II, 4, VII, 75, VIII, 7), Pliny (HN. IV). Ptolemy (G. II, 8). Kruta: 366.
