Droit décentré, avec le visage hors flan, mais revers bien centré et de qualité ! Très belle patine vert clair

Obverse legend : SVTICOS.
Obverse description : Tête casquée à gauche, protège nuque enroulé, deux feuilles de fougère (?) opposées derrière la tête, (légende devant le visage), grènetis.
Reverse
Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval bridé galopant à gauche ; au-dessus, un rameau ; à l'exergue, colonne entre deux annelets centrés.
Commentary
Brigitte Fischer interprète l'objet entre les jambes du cheval comme un vase. L.-P. Delestrée quand à lui croit y voir le "haut d'une amphore" dans la description de ce bronze dans son "Nouvel atlas". Il s'agit plus certainement d’une colonne, comme celles qui soutiennent le fronton de temple du bronze PIXTILOS LT. 7100 (cf. MONNAIES XV, n° 576-577).

VELIOCASSES (Area of Norman Vexin)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Véliocasses, people of Belgian Gaul, lived in the Norman Vexin located in the current department of Seine-Maritime. Their neighbors were the Lexovians and the Aulerci Éburovices, with the Seine as their border, and on the other side the Parisii, the Calètes and the Bellovaques. They participated in the Belgian coalition of 57 BC, led by the Bellovaques and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. But in 52 BC, for the relief army to release Vercingetorix besieged in Alesia, they only gave three thousand men. The following year, in 51 BC, they took part for the last time in the coalition of the Belgians in revolt under the leadership of the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Rouen (Rotomagus).
