Bronze avec une très légère usure, frappé sur un flan scyphate. Des faiblesses de frappe sont à signaler des deux côtés. Patine vert foncé au droit et plus hétérogène au revers, avec une zone argentée

Obverse description : Tête diadémée à droite, les cheveux retombant sur la nuque, un collier de perles au cou, légende devant le visage ; fleur trifoliée derrière la nuque.
Reverse
Reverse legend : [V]ELIO[CAOI].
Reverse description : Cheval galopant à droite, une esse accostée d’un annelet au-dessus et au-dessous du cheval, une amphore renversée sous la patte arrière, double ligne de zigzag derrière la queue.
Commentary
Au droit, SVTICCOS est presque entièrement lisible alors que la légende VELIOCAOI est très en bord de flan au revers.
La zone argentée résulte sans doute d’un particule d’argent dans le bronze qui servit à réaliser le flan ; ce phénomène technique est assez rare mais attesté sur d’autres monnaies !.
On the right, SVTICCOS is almost entirely legible while the legend VELIOCAOI is very much on the edge of the blank on the reverse. The silver zone undoubtedly results from a particle of silver in the bronze which was used to make the blank; this technical phenomenon is quite rare but documented on other currencies!

VELIOCASSES (Area of Norman Vexin)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Véliocasses, people of Belgian Gaul, lived in the Norman Vexin located in the current department of Seine-Maritime. Their neighbors were the Lexovians and the Aulerci Éburovices, with the Seine as their border, and on the other side the Parisii, the Calètes and the Bellovaques. They participated in the Belgian coalition of 57 BC, led by the Bellovaques and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. But in 52 BC, for the relief army to release Vercingetorix besieged in Alesia, they only gave three thousand men. The following year, in 51 BC, they took part for the last time in the coalition of the Belgians in revolt under the leadership of the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Rouen (Rotomagus). Caesar (BG. II, 4; VII, 75; VIII, 7); Pliny (HN. IV). Ptolemy (G. II, 8). Kruta: 366.
