Commentary

Poinçon-marque de Tanfani Bertarelli au revers de la couronne de laurier émaillé vert.
Diamètre de la croix émaillé rouge : 55,5 mm, avec la bélière : 59,5 mm, avec la couronne : 85 mm.
Ruban rouge, bordé de jaune - longueur approximative : 28 cm sans compter les élastiques d’attache.
Concernant l’étoile présentant le buste de Saint Grégoire sur fond émaillé bleu à l’avers au centre d’une croix émaillé rouge sur une étoile à 8 branches. Marque du fabricant au revers : Tanfani Bertarelli avec la lettre A et des agrafes pour accrocher l’étoile au costume. poids : 55,14g et dimensions : 79,5*80 mm.

Cette médaille fut remise au gouverneur des Colonies, Monsieur Privat-Antoine Aubouard. MIlitaire de formation, né à Moulins dans l’Allier en 1874, il fut le premier français et catholique romain à être président du Liban sous mandat en 1934

L'ordre de Saint-Grégoire-le-Grand est une distinction honorifique accordée par le Saint-Siège, à titre civil ou militaire. Fondé le 1er septembre 1831 par le pape Grégoire XVI en l'honneur du pape Grégoire Ier, il est modifié le 30 mai 1834. cf. Wikipedia.

This medal was presented to the Governor of the Colonies, Mr. Privat-Antoine Aubouard. A military man by training, born in Moulins in Allier in 1874, he was the first French and Roman Catholic to be president of Lebanon under mandate in 1934. The Order of Saint Gregory the Great is an honorary distinction granted by the Holy See, in a civil or military capacity.
