Médaille frappée au XIXe siècle.
Saint Charles Borromée (en italien Carlo Borromeo), né à Arona (Italie) le 2 octobre 1538 et mort à Milan le 3 novembre 1584, est un évêque italien du XVIe siècle, archevêque de Milan et cardinal de l'Église catholique. Grand artisan dans son diocèse de la Réforme catholique voulue par le concile de Trente, il est considéré comme un modèle d'évêque post-tridentin. Canonisé dès 1610 par le pape Paul V, il est liturgiquement commémoré le 4 novembre..
Medal struck in the 19th century. Saint Charles Borromeo (in Italian Carlo Borromeo), born in Arona (Italy) on October 2, 1538 and died in Milan on November 3, 1584, was a 16th-century Italian bishop, Archbishop of Milan and Cardinal of the Catholic Church. A great architect in his diocese of the Catholic Reformation desired by the Council of Trent, he is considered a model of a post-Tridentine bishop. Canonized in 1610 by Pope Paul V, he is liturgically commemorated on November 4.
