Commentary


Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités boulétées. Ptéryges à pein visibles sous le paludamentum. Grosse fibule d’attache sur l’épaule.
Lightweight. Type 3 ribbons with rounded ends. Pteryges barely visible under the paludamentum. Large attachment fibula on the shoulder.

Valens, after having been proclaimed august by his brother, receives the charge of governing the East. Since Decius, he is the first emperor killed in battle by the Goths in Adrianople, August 9, 378.
