Commentary


Sequoyah (vers 1767 - 1843) est un orfèvre cherokee et l’inventeur de l’alphabet cherokee. A partir de 1806, il met en place un alphabet cherokee qui permet de transcrire les 86 syllabes de la langue cherokee. Cet alphabet est adopté par la Nation Cherokee en 1825.
Sequoyah (c. 1767–1843) was a Cherokee silversmith and inventor of the Cherokee alphabet. Beginning in 1806, he developed a Cherokee alphabet that transcribed the 86 syllables of the Cherokee language. This alphabet was adopted by the Cherokee Nation in 1825.
