Commentary


Construit entre 1732 et 1753 pour abriter l’assemblée coloniale de Pennsylvanie, l’Independence Hall est le bâtiment de Philadelphie où fut signée la Déclaration d’indépendance (1776) et fut adoptée la Constitution américaine (1787).
En 1976, le Bicentenaire de l’Indépendance fut l’objet de nombreuses commémorations. L’US mint frappa pour l’occasion une série de trois monnaies :
- 1/4 dollar au tambour
- 1/2 dollar Independence Hall
- 1 dollar Liberty Bell.
Built between 1732 and 1753 to house the colonial assembly of Pennsylvania, Independence Hall is the building in Philadelphia where the Declaration of Independence was signed (1776) and the American Constitution was adopted (1787). In 1976, the Bicentennial of Independence was the subject of numerous commemorations. The US Mint struck a series of three coins for the occasion: - 1/4 dollar drum - 1/2 dollar Independence Hall - 1 dollar Liberty Bell
