UMAYYADS - HASHIM

(724-743/ AH 105-125)

Hashim is the tenth caliph. He succeeded Yazid II (720-724). Under his reign, the Arabs were stopped by Charles Martel near Poitiers. This is the time when the Umayyad Empire is experiencing its greatest expansion. Less than ten years after Hashim's death, the Umayyad Caliphate disappeared.
