Between 1918 and 1919, the West Ukrainian People's Republic was a brief (1918-1919) state that emerged from the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires. This republic did not survive the Russian Revolution and was completely conquered by the Bolshevik Red Army in early 1920.
