Commentary

Le Pont Antonov ou d'Antonivka est un pont qui franchit le Dniepr en amont et à l’est de Kherson. Mis en service en 1985, il devient un enjeu militaire essentiel lors de la première Bataille de Kherson en février 2022 lors de l’invasion de l’Ukraine par la Russie. Lors de la contre-offensive ukrainienne en juillet 2022, le pont est bombardé et rendu inutilisable précipitant le retrait russe de la ville de Kherson et de la rive droite du Dniepr.
The Antonov Bridge, or Antonivka Bridge, is a bridge that crosses the Dnieper River upstream and east of Kherson. Commissioned in 1985, it became a key military asset during the First Battle of Kherson in February 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the Ukrainian counter-offensive in July 2022, the bridge was bombed and rendered unusable, precipitating the Russian withdrawal from the city of Kherson and the right bank of the Dnieper.
