Point intéressant, sur un flan lourd et large. Patine sombre, avec de légère concrétions

Commentary
Cet exemplaire semble plus proche des monnaies des Turons, mais il n’est pas sans rappeler certaines séries attribuées aux Bituriges.
Même si les études réalisées sur les potins des Turons laissent à désirer, les auteurs du Nouvel Atlas n'ont repris que deux exemplaires ; celui de la classe I, typique avec sa petite tête chevelue et la croisette au revers, et celui de la classe II auquel tous les autres potins turons sont assimilés.
This example seems closer to the coins of the Turons, but it is reminiscent of certain series attributed to the Bituriges. Even if the studies carried out on the gossip of the Turons leave something to be desired, the authors of the Nouvel Atlas only took two copies; that of class I, typical with its little hairy head and the cross on the reverse, and that of class II to which all the other turon gossips are assimilated

TURONES (Area of Touraine)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The people of the Turons, settled on the Loire, left their name to Tours and Touraine. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. They seem to have grown in importance after the disappearance of the Arverne empire in 121 BC. Like the Pictons, the Turons provided eight thousand men for the relief army which was to release Alesia. Their main oppidum seems to have been placed near the site of Amboise. Caesar (BG. II, 35; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 46).
