Coments on the condition:
Bronze sur un flan relativement large, mais un peu irrégulier avec les cassures des penons de coulée. Droit et revers convenablement centrés. Patine vert, un peu crouteuse

Commentary

Ce type de bronze est très rare. Cet exemplaire est homogène, avec les légendes TVRONOS TRICCOS partiellement lisibles.
Il est intéressant de noter la similitude de traitement entre le taureau du revers et l’animal au revers des deniers ATEVLA VLATOS....

Historical background

TURONES (Area of Touraine)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The people of the Turons, settled on the Loire, left their name to Tours and Touraine. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. They seem to have grown in importance after the disappearance of the Arverne empire in 121 BC. Like the Pictons, the Turons provided eight thousand men for the relief army which was to release Alesia. Their main oppidum seems to have been placed near the site of Amboise. Caesar (BG. II, 35; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 46).
