Reverse description : Légende en 5 lignes dans le médaillon central, entouré d’une couronne de chêne et laurier. Signé : MB.
Commentary
La médaille a été décernée à Jean-Joseph Farre (1816-1887) général de brigade à partir du 31 octobre 1870 puis suite à l’intérim du commandement en chef de l’armée, il fut maintenu sans limite d’âge par décret. Politiquement, il fut nommé ministre de la guerre puis sénateur inamovible à partir du 25 novembre 1880 et jusqu’à sa mort en 1887.
The medal was awarded to Jean-Joseph Farre (1816-1887), brigadier general from 31 October 1870, then following the interim commander-in-chief of the army, he was maintained without age limit by decree. Politically, he was appointed Minister of War and then permanent senator from 25 November 1880 until his death in 1887.
