Legislative conflict in 1877, which opposed Jules Simon and the Duke de Broglie, to the advantage of Republicans. The World Expo 1878 held at the Trocadero. The phone made its appearance in Paris in 1879. Mac Mahon, in conflict with the Assembly, resigns ("comply or resign"). Jules Grevy was elected in his place. Gambetta becomes President of the Chamber of Deputies. The Prince Imperial, son of Napoleon III, was massacred by the Zulus in uniform English. July 14 is National Day in 1880.
