Flan large et irrégulier. Très beau portrait légèrement stylisé. Revers intéressant. Revers bien venu à la frappe. Magnifique patine vert jade clair, légèrement granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Trajan Dèce à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A*2).

Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Caius Messius Quintus Decius Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Caius Messius Quintus Dèce pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : P M S - C-OL VIM// AN XI.

Reverse description : La Mésie drapée debout de face tournée à gauche, brandissant une branche d’olivier de la main droite et tenant de la main gauche, un long sceptre transversal ; de chaque côté, un bœuf à gauche tourné à droite et un lion à droite tourné à gauche.

Reverse translation : “Provinciæ Moesiæ Superioris Colonia Viminacium anno un decimum”, (Province de Mésie Supérieure colonie de Viminacium, de la onzième année).

Commentary

Poids lourd. Portrait de Philippe l’Arabe pour cette première émission où le portrait du nouvel empereur n’est pas encore connu. Première émission pour l’atelier avant que Dèce n’adopte le surnom de Trajan, inscrit ensuite sur toutes les monnaies.
Heavyweight. Portrait of Philip the Arab for this first issue, where the portrait of the new emperor is not yet known. First issue for the mint before Decius adopted the nickname Trajan, subsequently inscribed on all coins.
