After the assassination of Arthur of Brittany in 1201 by Jean sans Terre, Philippe Auguste pronounces the clerk of the lands of his vassal who revolted against him and became a traitor. Anjou, Maine and Touraine are seized. Philippe becomes the protector of the abbey and will be, from 1204, lay abbot.
