Commentary

Cet exemplaire est très intéressant, avec un nom de monétaire au revers. Seule la dernière lettre et le titre MO(nétaire) sont visibles. La variante avec double grènetis semble beaucoup plus rare.
Avec des légendes souvent fragmentaires, sur des flans irréguliers et toujours trop courts, il est difficile de proposer une attribution à une ville précise. Ces deniers sont originaires d’une aire au monnayage homogène qui devait déjà être difficile à différencier lorsque les monnaies circulaient !.
This example is very interesting, with a mint name on the reverse. Only the last letter and the title MO(netary) are visible. The variant with double beading seems much rarer. With often fragmentary legends, on irregular and always too short flans, it is difficult to propose an attribution to a specific city. These denarii originate from an area with a homogeneous coinage that must already have been difficult to differentiate when the coins were in circulation!
