Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré qui a été gratté et retouché. Très belle tête de Claude. Revers inhabituel. Patine marron foncé

Obverse translation : “Tiberius Claudius Cæsar Augustus Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate Imperator Pater Patriæ”, (Tibère Claude césar auguste, grand pontife revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne, empereur père de la patrie).

Reverse description : Spes (l'Espérance) debout à gauche, tenant une fleur de la main droite et relevant sa robe de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Spes Augusta”, (L'Espérance auguste).

Commentary

Poids léger. Rubans de type 3. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire reproduit dans le Cayon (SIR n° 7, p. 71). Ce type est directement copié sur le sesterce de Claude (RCV. 1854 avec la légende : SPES - AVGVSTA) et sera ensuite repris par Domitien avec la tête à gauche (RCV. 2898 avec la légende : IMP D CAES AVG REST, frappé en 81-82). Il existe un sesterce semblable pour Titus avec la tête à gauche (RCV. 2602 avec la légende IMP T VESP AVG REST).
