Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale et irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés à l’usure importante avec une patine grise superficielle

Obverse description : Ancre renversée, cantonnée d’une écrevisse à droite.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Tête de Méduse de face, entourée de serpents (Gorgoneion).
Commentary
Le droit est bien l’ancre dans cette série et pas la tête de méduse. Au droit, le mollusque, décrit comme une écrevisse, est incertain. Sur cet exemplaire, la lettre au droit est renversée.

THRACE - APOLLONIA PONTICA
(4th century BC)
Apollonia Pontica, located on Pont-Euxin was a Milesian colony. The city was famous for its temple of Apollo and its colossal statue, the work of Kalamis. When Lucullus captured the city in 73 BC, he had the statue of the god transported to Rome.
